SUMMARY

Assembly technician will perform electro-mechanical assembly of industrial controls and machinery.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in assembly kick-off meetings.
  • Read and interpret complex electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Apply of NFPA 79, UL 508A, CE, and NACS electrical specifications.
  • Assemble electrical panels including mounting components, wiring, making cables, connectors, instrumentation, field wiring, and enclosure fabrication.
  • Modify electrical enclosures to accept components.
  • Wire field devices including routing of wires.
  • Assemble mechanical assemblies including bearings, gears, actuators, rollers, shafts and pneumatic components.
  • Perform check out, power-up, and startup of complete machine assemblies.
  • Complete build verification and quality assurance documentation as required.
  • Document redlined changes as required.
  • Perform field service as required.

 QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in reading mechanical elementary drawings, pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams, and instrumentation flow diagrams.
  • Advanced knowledge in reading electrical wiring detail and elementary documentation including bills of material
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Operating Systems, MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of image, drawing, and ladder logic viewing software.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic principles including transistor theory as applied to analog/digital input and output devises.
  • Basic knowledge of UL508A, NFPA79, ETL, and CE requirements.

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

AAS, Vocational Certificate, Apprenticeship, OR five years machine building experience OR equivalent experience in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.

While performing duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, walk, use hands, see, and hear. Infrequent lifting of up to 80 pounds is required.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The environment is generally clean and the noise level is moderate. Air is generally clean with occasional welding smoke or cleaning solvent smell.
